PhD or Postdoc Position (m/f/d, up to 3 years and 9 months, competitive salary, starting in October 2023) in Photochemistry and Catalysis at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in the Department of Chemistry.
Project title:
"Visible Light driven Hydrogen Generation with Engineered Photocatalyst-Doped Micelles in Water" within the Collaborative Research Center SFB1552 “Defects and Defect Engineering in Soft Matter”. More details on the project and SFB 1552 can be found under:
https://www.sfb1552.uni-mainz.de/project-a05/
We are looking for a motivated candidate with passion for sustainable photochemistry. The interplay of catalyst design, optical spectroscopy (both steady-state and time-resolved) and lab-scale photocatalytic experiments will be essential to elucidate new hydrogen generation systems and materials.
The ideal applicant holds an MSc degree in chemistry (or a related field) and has practical experiences in synthetic chemistry/catalysis and spectroscopy (UV-Vis, emission, laser flash photolysis, TCSPC).
In addition to the interdisciplinary working environment, the SFB1552 offers an integrated research training group which provides young researchers with the best training for a career in the area of (soft) materials development. The PhD students receive training in both scientific and transferable skills that are essential for a successful career in both, academia and the non-academic fields
Please send your application containing (CV, certificates, motivation letter, short summary of your Master Thesis) to Prof. Dr. Christoph Kerzig (ckerzig@uni-mainz.de), either in English or in German, using the e-mail subject "SFB1552 open position". The application deadline is August 20, 2023.
